Apparently they never learn and are instead busy adding features like DRM and UEFI to make our lives even more miserable.
However updating the BIOS on my Lenovo X230 laptop was surprisingly easy once I learned how to do that (kudos to a G post I stumbled upon).
Can anyone tell me where I can find instructions and tools to do the update?
I have two of these servers, One as a server running Cent OS 7.2, and one as a workstation, running Arch Linux Lenovo offers native Linux Bios update, which is very impressive.
but if you’re using the new BIOS, then Windows is not officially supported.
In fact, Lenovo says it’s not officially supporting the new BIOS either…
To my untrained eye it seems that the problem is bad code and a modern gcc complains about it, specifically the lines with '[-Werror=implicit-int]'.
You may be able to take that Linux64apart and fix the code, do all the steps manually and use less strict gcc switches.
